Product documentation for wtmux 0.14.0.

Install Terminal Multiplexer for Windows

Terminal Multiplexer for Windows (wtmux) is currently available only through the Microsoft Store. The Store app includes the native runtime and registers the wtmux command; no separate .NET runtime is required. Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later is required, on x64 or ARM64.

Install with WinGet

If you have WinGet (App Installer) and access to its enabled msstore source, you can install the same Microsoft Store app from a terminal:

winget install --id 9PC5S2F8Z7XX --source msstore

The product ID and source identify this app unambiguously; winget install wtmux may select a different project with the same name. This is WinGet through the Microsoft Store, not a package from the WinGet Community Repository or a separate download.

Installation was verified on a clean Windows 11 x64 VM with a United States region and an enabled msstore source. WinGet displayed this app's Store package agreements; answering the prompt installed the app successfully. A separate clean installation also succeeded with --accept-package-agreements after reviewing those terms. This flag accepts the package agreement, not any separate source agreement, and does not bypass Store policy or licensing. No additional source-agreement or sign-in prompt appeared in that environment; Store availability, region, device policy, account, and licensing requirements still apply on other devices. The basic command above keeps prompts visible. See Microsoft's WinGet install guidance for source selection and agreement behavior.

If the command cannot find the app, check that WinGet is available and that winget source list shows an accessible msstore source. If your organization manages Store access, contact its administrator; changing sources or bypassing policy is not required by this guide.

Verify the installation

These commands check the Store listing, inspect the installed package, and print the CLI version without starting, stopping, or replacing a wtmux server or session:

winget show --id 9PC5S2F8Z7XX --source msstore
Get-AppxPackage -Name '56889Shmuelie.WindowsTMUX' | Select-Object Name, PackageFullName, Version
wtmux --version

The Store lookup should show Terminal Multiplexer for Windows by Shmuelie, and the installed package name should be 56889Shmuelie.WindowsTMUX. If wtmux is not found, open a new terminal to refresh execution-alias discovery, then check that the package installed successfully.
